Sliding bushings, also known as plain bearings are essential components for reducing friction and supporting loads in mechanical systems with rotary or linear motion. Since the invention of Babbitt metal in 1839, their ability to reduce friction has enabled the first steam locomotives to reach unprecedented speeds and thus transform transportation.
